We’re officially selected for the 2026 HAAPIFEST film festival!
Exciting news to kick off our film festival run! The Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival (HAAPIFEST) has notified our team that are officially selected for the 2025 film festival lineup. For about 22 years now, HAAPIFEST has long been a space dedicated to showcasing AAPI stories with depth, nuance, and care, and it feels especially significant to have Dragon City presented within that context. It’s a festival that doesn’t just program films, but builds a community around them—centering voices that reflect the complexity and richness of AAPI experiences. Their mission is to “elevate AAPI voices through the power of film, spark meaningful dialogue around identity and diversity, and build bridges between communities. HAAPIFest features narrative films, documentaries, shorts, panels, and special events designed to inspire, educate, and entertain.”
Like most festival journeys, this one started with a submission and a lot of hope. After an open call and review process that brings together a wide range of filmmakers from across the world, we received the news that Dragon City had been accepted into the official 2026 festival program. It’s always a quiet moment when you open that kind of email but it quickly becomes something bigger once you realize your film will be part of a shared conversation with other filmmakers and audiences.
How to Watch Dragon City During HAAPIFEST
HAAPIFEST 2026 runs from May 29 through June 14, 2026, and includes both in-person screenings in Houston as well as a virtual festival experienceDragon City will be available virtually through HAAPIFEST’s online festival platform during the festival window. Once you purchase a virtual or all-access pass, you’ll be able to stream films on demand within the scheduled availability period.
